Around April 1885. House of Shri Balram Bose at Kolkata. Shri Ramakrishna was discussing about one devotee Shri Hazra, with Narendra and Bhavnath and others.
Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was a great yogi. We do not expect sagelike persons to have prejudices and misconceptions. We expect that they treat everybody with equanimity.
Now, let us see what Shri Ramakrishna says about Shri Hazra:
... “And, you know what? It depends on physical traits. A dwarfish stature and dents here and there on the body are bad signs. Such a person takes a long time to attain jnana.” ...
BLOGGER'S VIEW
Really? Does a short person with dents here and there takes long time to attain gnaana (true knowledge)? Are appearances important for self-realisation? What type of preaching is this?
Fortunately, the devotee Bhavnath closed this saying "Stop this, sir. Let’s not continue such talk."
From this discussion, probably we may also deduce that Ramakrishna preferred Narendra as his principal disciple because he was tall and pahilvan like.

I am sure the blogger has read a lot about Ramakrishna. He must have observed his catholicity and open for all approach. He says that for any person of any appearance , cast, religion; the most important thing is is thirst to know the truth. It has been our experience that we also try to relate the body features with the inner traits of persons we know. Generally the guesses are right; and wrong too sometimes. What Ramakrishna says here is not at all a hard and fast rule; just he speaks of general trends. Such insights are more correctly haven by people of finer perceptions. We should not start to relate blindely in these matters. I think its better to concentrate on his teachings which can illumine our life; practise them; and should avoid hair splliting like this.
